Terms of Service โ Solve It
Last updated: 10 September 2026
Please read these terms before subscribing. By creating an account or paying for a subscription, you're agreeing to them.
Who we are
Solve It is provided by Tom Pimlott, trading as Solve It Maths, contactable at info@solveitmaths.co.uk. Data protection registration number: [ICO REGISTRATION NUMBER โ add once ICO registration is complete].
What the service is
Solve It is an online GCSE maths practice tool: auto-generated, auto-marked practice questions across the GCSE syllabus, with worked solutions and an AI-powered tutor chat for extra help. It's a practice and revision aid โ it is not a substitute for a school, a qualified tutor, or a teacher's own judgement about a student's progress.
Accounts
- Each subscription covers one student. The parent or guardian who signs up is the account holder and is responsible for the account, including keeping the passcode reasonably private.
- If more than one child in your household wants to use Solve It, each child needs their own separate subscription and their own separate login โ there's no shared multi-child code.
- You're responsible for the accuracy of the email address you provide, since that's how we'll contact you about your subscription.
Subscription, billing, and cancellation
- The subscription is billed monthly in advance, at the price shown at the time you sign up, via our payment processor, Stripe.
- Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel. There's no fixed minimum term โ cancel any time.
- How to cancel: email info@solveitmaths.co.uk and we'll cancel it for you. Cancelling stops future billing; you'll keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
- Your right to cancel under UK consumer law: under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you normally have 14 days from starting a new online subscription to cancel for a full refund. Because this is a digital service that starts immediately, by ticking the box at signup and beginning to use the service, you agree that this 14-day cancellation right ends once you've started using it, by ticking the box to that effect during signup โ but you can still cancel at any time afterwards to stop future payments, as above.
- Refunds outside the above: we don't offer automatic refunds for partial months, but if you're unhappy for any reason, get in touch at info@solveitmaths.co.uk and we'll look at it case by case โ most reasonable requests will be honoured.
- If a payment fails, we'll let Stripe retry it automatically; if it keeps failing, access may be paused until it's resolved.
Acceptable use
- The service is for personal, individual use โ not for redistributing content, reselling access, or sharing your login or access code with anyone outside your own household.
- Please don't try to interfere with the service, attempt to bypass payment or access controls, or use it in a way that could disrupt it for other users.
- The AI tutor is there to help with the maths questions in the app. It isn't a general chatbot, a counsellor, or a substitute for talking to a trusted adult about anything else going on โ see the safety note below.
The AI tutor โ what it is and isn't
- The tutor is generated by an AI model and, like any AI system, can occasionally get something wrong, phrase something confusingly, or respond oddly to something outside its intended use.
- It's grounded in the specific question being worked on, with a correct, human-verified answer behind it โ but if the tutor's chat reply ever conflicts with the worked solution shown in the app, the worked solution is the one to trust.
- The service includes a basic safety check on tutor conversations, intended to flag messages that suggest a child might be distressed or unsafe, so a parent can see and follow up. This is a simple, imperfect keyword-based check โ not a clinical or professional safeguarding tool โ and should not be relied on as your only means of knowing how your child is doing.
Content and intellectual property
- The questions, diagrams, explanations, and software behind Solve It belong to us (or our licensors) and are provided for your personal use under this subscription โ not for copying, redistributing, or reuse elsewhere.
- Because questions are algorithmically generated in the style of GCSE exam papers rather than copied from any exam board's actual past papers, they are our own original content.
Liability
- We do our best to keep the maths accurate and the service running reliably, but we don't guarantee it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that it will lead to any particular exam result.
- To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect losses (like exam results) arising from use of the service, beyond refunding what you've paid for the period in question. Nothing in these terms limits liability for things the law doesn't allow us to limit โ for example, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
Changes to the service or these terms
We may update these terms or the service itself from time to time. If we make a significant change to these terms, we'll notify the account holder by email before it takes effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales.

This is a starting draft based on how Solve It actually works today, not a finished legal document. In particular, please have a solicitor check the cancellation/refund section against your actual signup flow before publishing โ getting the Consumer Contracts Regulations wording wrong (saying customers waived a right they were never actually asked about) is exactly the kind of thing worth paying for a proper review.
